Mark The Time

 

In the United States, a criminal record is a life sentence. One in three Americans has one, restricting their ability to get housing, education, and a job. Just before state legislators voted on a bill that would seal criminal records and help millions, we unveiled a powerful mural hand-painted by formerly incarcerated activist Zaki Smith. We recontextualized hash marks to illustrate the injustice he has faced after getting released, proving that life on the outside is often even more punishing than life on the inside.
